Korean Culture : Han Style

Kamis, 21 Juli 2011

Asian countries have been doing exchanges through culture and trade throughout history. Trends spread throughout the region at an incredibly fast rate. The 80's were a time for “Hong Kong Noir” while the 90's were more an age of Japanese animation. The 2000s have seen a sharp rise in the popularity of Korean culture, with music and dramas hitting all the right notes. Interest in Korea, triggered by the success of leading Korean dramas and popular music, continues to escalated to include a host of other aspects of Korean culture, such as hangeul (Korean alphabet), hansik (Korean food), hanbok (traditional Korean clothing), hanok (traditional Korean houses), hanji (traditional Korean paper), as well as Korean music. In Korea, the aforementioned six cultural symbols are collectively referred to as “Han Style”.

The Korean Wave that swept its way through Asia starting with dramas and popular music is now achieving even far greater appeal in the international market. As it continues to evolve it enriches the image of Han Style.

Rabu, 20 Juli 2011

Joe Chen attended the 2011 Fantasy Westward Journey National Championship in Hangzhou on June 25 along with her co-stars of Monkey King .

She opted for a butteryfly-printed dress from Loewe Spring/Summer 2011 collection, completing her look with I Still Believe In Love sandals from Highline United China X Kevin Tsai collaboration collection.

She also attended the press conference of her new book launch, Joe In Greece on July 5, 2011. Wearing a burgundy Rose Guipure Lace Dress from Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2011 collection with a pair of black strappy sandals.

While the Loewe dress suited her image perfectly, the Marc Jacobs dress seemed a little overwhelming. Especially with those shoes which I thought was horrible.

The origin of taekwondo is from  Korea
Taekwondo is a martial art focused on kicking
Tae (태) means "to kick" or "to strike with the foot."
kwon (권) means "to intercept" or "to strike with the hands."
do (도) means "the way of the art"

Taekwondo is the way of the art using kicking and punching. Taekwondo has become very popular and well known for its excellent kicks.

Besides the use for self-defense, taekwondo has also become very popular as a sport. There are many taekwondo competitions all over the world. It is even an event in the Olympics now. In addition, taekwondo teaches more than physical fighting skills. It teaches discipline as well as a way to enhance daily life through training.

Benefits of Taekwondo
Taekwondo offers many benefits for anyone who wishes to practice it. The benefits of taekwondo are great and can help anyone, no matter what age.
For the younger people, taekwondo can offer intense training, greater than most other sports. Practitioners become fit fast, flexible, develop great stamina, learn self-defense, increase muscle, increase coordination, and many other benefits.

For older people, taekwondo can offer the same benefits, but also on a much easier level. It can improve health (safely) and does not have to be as intense as younger practitioners will train. Flexibility is something many older people loose over the years and taekwondo can help them to maintain flexibility and/or get some back that has been lost, providing a much healthier lifestyle. Basic self-defense skills can be learned by all.
Outside of physical benefits of taekwondo, lies some of the greatest benefits of all. Benefits of the mind.
Taekwondo can help increase confidence, self-control, self-assertiveness, leadership, comradeship, positive attitude, training of the mind. It will lead to a more peaceful lifestyle. most importantly, taekwondo can reduce stress. Now that is something everyone can benefit from. No matter what age, these internal benefits will help someone have a better, happier life.

Korean Food : Buldak

Buldak : Hot & Spicy Chicken
buldak

Buldak is a spicy chicken dish that is very popular in Koreans. Its popularity has been attributed to both its unique flavors and spiciness.

Many restaurants that specialize in buldak have been created due to the growing popularity as this dish is considered fairly new. Also, most restaurants that serve this dish offer various levels of spiciness that one can choose from and there are usually fresh vegetables served with this dish to blend in the taste.

An order of buldak can be served on a platter of bite-sized morsels of chicken breasts or sometimes in combinations of wings or drumsticks. While the flavor and degree of hotness differs a little from place to place, it is marinated with a hot & sweet sauce, grilled over an open fire, and then served over a sizzling skillet, topped with cheese as well as various herbs. It’s usually enjoyed as an appetizer while drinking a cold mekju or soju at popular bars or restaurants.

Park Soo Jin wore Johnny Hates Jazz at Mnet Choice Awards

Mnet 20's Choice Awards already held on July 7 2011 at Sheraton Walker Hotel in Seoul, South Korea.

Many Korea celebritied attended this event, one of them was Park Soo Jin (박수진).

Park Soo Jin wore a beautiful dress from Johnny Hates Jazz Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Keeping her outfit simple with simple jewelries and Suecomma Bonnie patent boots.

She matched the look with a pair of Suecomma Bonnie boots and simple rings and bracelets. Park Soo Jin tied up her hair in a tight bun, accenting her tiny face. I like how the dress is designed: solid in the front, but see-through in the back.
